Robert H. Hollis, Jr.

Robert H. Hollis, Jr. of Montgomery, Alabama, along with Jerome Spann, co-founded Residential and Commercial Contractors in 1950. They operated as a partnership on South Alice Street in Dothan, Alabama, until Spann’s death in 1965. Hollis then purchased the Spann interest and operated as Robert H. Hollis, Jr., DBA Hollis & Spann, until the company incorporated under the laws of the State of Alabama in 1968. Hollis retained the Spann name in honor of the co-founder and Hollis retired in 1990. 

R. Hayne Hollis, III, Chairman of the Board

Hayne Hollis, now Chairman of the Board, became president of Hollis & Spann in 1987, three years before his father, Robert H. Hollis, Jr. retired.  Before earning Bachelor’s degree in Building Science from Auburn University in 1974, Hayne began working on the survey crew for Couch Construction and then at Hollis and Spann as an assistant superintendent. Upon graduation he returned to Hollis & Spann working as an estimator, project manager, senior project manager and vice president.  Hayne continued the tradition of the company’s strong, progressive leadership as president until 2013. Hollis is a husband, father, and grandfather.             

Glenn S. Spivey, President

Glenn Spivey became president of the company in 2013, after serving for ten years as vice president. He began working with Hollis & Spann in 1993 as an intern. Glenn graduated from Auburn University in 1995 with a Bachelor’s degree in Building Science. He returned to Hollis & Spann, gaining knowledge and experience on a wide variety of construction products.  Glenn later was promoted to project manager and then later vice president. He believes in “having direct involvement in every project, and doing what’s right and what’s fair for the client.”  Glenn, a native of Dothan, Alabama is married and the father of three.
